“Lucas, listen to me… doing the right thing isn’t always easy, but when you know deep down what the right choice is you must also understand the courage it takes to make.” - Quote from the film

Remember Us is the debut feature film from Kaitlyn Boxall, an upcoming director known for her wildly successful short ‘Behind Closed Doors’ and its sequel, which were focused on domestic abuse and its consequences. ‘Remember Us’ touches on themes of racism, rehabilitation and memory.

The film is produced by Ginger Paradise Productions Ltd. and features Feisal Bizimana as Lucas alongside Rob Trend as Mr. Miller, Emma Hutchings as Amy, Jack Cook as Myles and Frank Harper (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) as Steve.

Max was the lighting lead on the project, with Duane Valentino as camera operator, and Dan Robins as 1st AD. Other gaffers included Andy Justin and Peter Kitcatt of Kitcatt Studios (www.kitcattstudios.co.uk).

Remember Us’ is expected to release in September 2022.

  • The film follows Lucas, a young black male as he receives community service for a shoplift gone wrong. This leads to an encounter with Mr. Miller, an old man beset by dementia who nevertheless decides to take Lucas under his wing. Growing as a person, Lucas begins to question the toxic relationship he has with his so-called-friends, but they won’t let him leave so easily.

  • Lighting-wise, there were a number of locations where controlling light was extremely challenging, and others where traditional lighting was nigh-on impossible. With no budget for rental and no pre-light days, smart thinking and problem-solving on set allowed the film to look as good as it does.
